The STAR Program will help the applied scientist improve the human condition in concert with STARFLEET goals.

It is today, as it has been every day before, and will continue to be every day forward, that men from all walks and all stages of life will come together to revel in the brotherhood of common goals and the fervent belief in improving the general welfare of man that is the philosophy of STARFLEET.

We can know no greater principle but that of the general welfare of man, and it is this guiding belief that compels us to unite in common cause and common interest.  We believe in the unalienable rights of man, and by our actions, we join in a conscience that is alive with a spirit of dedication, powerful in conviction, and ready for action.

Our action is focused behind one man’s dream.  His dream was one of peace among all people, on earth and beyond, as we all discover the future together.  The beginning of knowledge is the discovery of something we do not understand.  If we value the pursuit of knowledge, we must be free to follow wherever that search may lead us.    Science may set limits to knowledge, but should not set limits to imagination.  If you have knowledge, let others light their candles at it.

Science tells us that the quest for knowledge is research.  Applied research is designed to solve practical problems of the modern world, rather than to acquire knowledge for knowledge's sake. One might say that the goal of the applied scientist is to improve the human condition.  Every organizational entity engages in applied research. The basic definition for applied research is any fact gathering project that is conducted with an eye to acquiring and applying knowledge that will address a specific problem or meet a specific need within the scope of the entity.  The concept of applied research involves finding out what attracts people to a cause, and then developing strategies that will allow the entity to increase the public profile of the organization, and entice people to listen to what they have to say and offer.

Ultimately, let us remember during our quests that imagination is more important than knowledge. For while knowledge defines all we currently know and understand, imagination points to all we might yet discover and create.

Our goals:

  • To promote the mutual advancement of its members and the organization as a whole.

  • The sharing of innovative ideas and their practical applications to the organization as a whole.

  • To establish a forum to maintain strong professional and amiable ties to each other and to our communities.
